Phalaenopsis with deformed flower spikes
I am new to this forum. I live in Naples, Florida. We have an Orchid House with about 800 Phalaenopsis orchids at our retirement center. This year some of the Phalaenopsis flower spikes are very deformed. At the tips of very healthy robust flower spikes, where the blooms should be there is only knobby woody growth. Each node where the bloom should be is only about a quarter inch before the next one, making it appear like they are all jammed up against each other. They do not produce blooms just this woody flower spike. Has anyone experienced the situation before. I have been raising orchids for 44 years and have never seen this before.
