I have an oncidium with nine flower spikes that stand straight up with no support in spite of being over 24" long. They have not changed in two months and still have not bloomed. Is this unusual? It is a yellow dancing ladies plant that I have had for over 30 years.

You appear to have Oncidium sphacelatum. My educated guess. Enjoy!!

They can sit there for a LOOONG time... as long as the spikes are green, they're fine, and will bloom eventually. Please show us a photo when it blooms, it will be spectacular!
