Default Fame Orchid Nursery Australia

Cattleya's are an orchid that I have done many searches for on line over the last 12 months or so. This orchid suits our climate perfectly.

The best and cheapest nursery or seller turned out to be Fame Nursery and it has been in my backyard since 1978 and is a very clean large orchid nursery.

So today I got 80 different cattleya's all with different parentage, grown from seed, as advance 50mm or 2" tube stock nicely ready to pot on or will be OK for the next 5 months of the growing season here.

It has taken me over two years to get my 1st large orchid purchase.

At AU$3 or US$2.20 per tube I am very happy. The tube stock is beautiful and they picked out the best plants for me.

The scent all over that nursery today was so varied and totally amazing.

So what came with the plants is the Cattleya with the longest flower spike and another with the largest flower, possible colours etc

Some of the soft canes I could not resist and the cost was the same as the cattleya's.

Finally I got some orchids...........

Thank you wintergirl.

The seedlings are the right size to pot on.

But I do not want to stress the orchids any more than their change from the nursery to our home.

The different growing position, the change of the amount of sunlight and our climate is very different here on one of Southern Morton Bay Islands than the nursery even though it is very close to us.

Repotting now for me is to big a risk even though we have 3 strong growing month still to come.

Thank you Yazz.

Yes it came as a real surprise that I have the best orchid nursery close by with great prices. Things like that just do not happen to me this way. It is such a blessing!

I nearly did not get into orchids but after visiting Fame Nursery about 6 x in the last 12 months I could see the flower shapes, colours, growth rate and looked for diseases and found none etc.

You really dived right in to the orchid pool! Splash! The water's fine!

I don't understand what you mean by tube stock - could you post a photo?

Amazing!

Fame Orchid Nursery did not give me 80 plants.

They gave me 100 different.

And that's all seed grown with different parentage.

Looks like I will be going back.

The price..........It has got me thinking full on.

I am going to select with the nursery owners knowledge 10 or 20 orchids from the same batch of seed.

Can select many different ways with this concept, like flower colour, size & shape, scent, flower spike size & number of flowers etc.

It would be very interesting to see how many different flowers, shape, colours, from the same batch of seed!
