Epsom salt to aid Phalaenopsis to regain green leaves?
Hi all, I have a Phal. lindenii that got heat stress from my negligence during the recent heat wave in San Diego. Most of its leaves turned into a yellow-green color in about 48 hrs, and some of its roots were burned from the heat. One of the lower leaves is not damaged, and roots under the sphagnum moss are fine.
Now the plant is indoor in cooler temps with lots of air movement and humidity. I make sure to keep its roots constantly moist. I have read that using a Epsom salt solution (1 tsp per gallon of water) 1x a month helps with chlorophyll production and make leaves green up. Is this true? Has anyone use this solution for a heat-stressed plant to make its leaves green again?

yes Epsom salts does help green up yellowy leaves caused by lack of certain minerals.
I'm not sure it will work on leaves that have had too much sun and gotten damaged chlorophyll but it cant do any arm and could work, so worth a try.

Epsom salt contains magnesium and sulfur. Both those minerals are often in well water or tap water but maybe not be in sufficient quantities. Some fertilizers contain one or both of them but others don't. If you use RO water, rain water or distilled water, it's a good idea to use epsom salt once a month. Even if you use tap water, it won't hurt to use epsom salt occasionally.
