Default masdevallia growing wierd

I grow many masdevallia and have never seen this before so can someone tell me what could be wrong?

Last year, I bought some masdies (thin leafed types) and most of them grew and bloomed the normal way but I have one plant that grows in this super unpredictable wonky way.

For example, the first 3 months were fine, then it bloomed and grew some leaves, but after that, it dropped enough leaves to reduce the size of the plant by half. It then recovered very quickly by sending up many growths and bloomed again, this time with more than 30 flowers! there were flowers everywhere and it was amazing but right after the flowers dropped, it did the thing where it lost a huge portion of its leaves again. I am not sure if the flowers sucked out the energy from the plant or what, but it really bothers me as I'd rather have a healthy plant, than flowers any day. right now it is recovering again but it's still shedding a few leaves. It looks okay from the top but you can see unsightly " bald spots" where the leaves dropped off when you look closely. So what do you think is going on with the plant?

Thanks in advance for any help I get!

Which Masdie is it? I've grown a few but not with much success as I can't keep them cool enough. It has always seemed that massive leaf drop is stress tho.

I'm wondering if you got it from Ecuagenera since they sell a lot at the orchid shows here in Canada. If so, you might want to e-mail them and send a picture or two. I did that with one of mine and they were very helpful. They should have a lot of experience with them.

I looked in OrchidWiz and there is no comment of this plant shedding leaves. I think if you have two others the same, it might have been stress. We just recently had an orchid show and a society member was upset because he bought a Masdie, took it home and almost all the leaves just instantly dropped off. It had just been flown bare root from Ecuador . The one I bought dropped several leaves this way and I was starting to worry. Hopefully yours will replace with more new growths and maybe if you quit blooming it so well, it won't get so stressed

I have a lilacina that has been doing this since I got it. I however have never gotten it to bloom. I just re-potted it and so now it is losing leaves again. I figure it is stress also but what to do about it? Sometimes I want to toss it but then it is not the only one I have never bloomed.
