It is the time of year for lichens and all the rest of the algee to grow on the leaves. Currently we wipe it off manully but it is not fun on 1000+ plants.
Anybody know of a product to spray on that will kill this fungus? I have heard that physan 20 inhibits it. Any others?
Actually, I have not found Physan 20 affective in getting rid of algae, even though the label says it does. The Shore Flies do an effective job however.
Physan, if applied properly, does an excellent job of killing all sorts of things, including algae. That does not mean that it removes it, though.
The way to take care of large infestations is to spray everything thoroughly with a solution of a tablespoon per gallon, wait 15 minutes and wash everything with a pretty heavy spray - sort of a mild "power washing". After that, prevention is the key, with a teaspoon per gallon spray about every 4- to 6 weeks.
Thanks for the input, the directions say tabledspoon is for floors, have you tried something that strong on plant (orchids)? Do you know of any other products? that work? I do have an infestation, I live in a cloud forrest, this is the one negative of the location.
