He is south of 130 near the projected flow path. But, not in the bulls eye as the maps and "experts" predict. But then, you know Pele. She does whatever, whenever and where ever she wants. She doesn't read maps or listen to "experts".
I do not know the full story, but things have been let go for a while.
The roof of one of the buildings has slumped with no attempt to repair it. The plants are all overgrowing their pots and mounts and getting bound together by their roots.
Many of the-plants need to be cut apart. Many of the smaller cork type mounts are dead. The Tables of Catts and other types of hybrids are still doing quite well, but of no real interest to me. The O. radicans had a "NOT FOR SALE" tag on it. He let me have it without batting an eye.
I'm wondering if there might be something like health issues, or loss of interest, or financial problems, or ...?
Thing are moving out. But, not real fast. More people are going by as the word gets out. But then, the selection of the types of things I'm looking for will be drying up. Unless there is a big run on the place, there will be plenty of hybrids for several weeks, I'd think.
He is on Auina Rd, the first Left off Kahakai Rd., the road down to Hawaiian Beaches. If he's open, he'll have home made "ORCHID" signs up at the corner of Kahakai and Auina and/or across the road pointing to his driveway.
That's the best info I can give you. It's all I know. My understanding is that he is not the one the Hilo Orchid Society sent an email out about a few weeks ago. So, there might be others in the area trying to lighten their load because of Pele's antics.
@bil
I have fallen off the wagon with a loud thud. I'm sated for right now. Although, I find myself thinking about going back to gather up some more. But, it is controllable. Until I get these remounted and placed in their new homes, I'll not be feeling any severe withdrawals. After that, I suspect I'll start twitching again. I'm prone to binge orchid buying.

Yeah, well if I had your opportunities to go cruising thru orchid sellers like that, I'd be falling off the wagon regularly too.

Thanks for that info. You don't know his name though or the nursery name? I've been to quite a few but those directions don't sound like any I've ever visited. I'd like to visit but not now, maybe in Nov. Perhaps I can track down more info from some other growers. Mahalo !!

All I know is that it was a wholesale only operation, and he's shutting down now.
Don't count on going by this one in the future.
I think when he sells as much as he thinks he's going to sell, he'll throw the rest out or whatever and walk away.
Just my feeling.

Believe it or not, Alaska has 14 identified native orchids, although none are called ice orchids.
Hawaii has only 3, go figure.
OK, I can live with your jealousy.
In fact, it might add to my enjoyment of being here.
Gotta go work on remounting my new pets.

That has to be one of the most ridiculous statistics I have ever heard.
Mind. Blown.
