Default bringint orchids from the Upcoming World orchid conference in South africa

guys,

how can you bring orchids to the states From the upcoming world orchid conference to be held in south africa?

i asked the folks of plantae, but they came with the classic cryptic message that you need import permit to bring plants to the states.

can i get a valid import permit from southafrica? or anyone in the states cant bring anything legally?

so if i visit from overseas, and want to bring some plants to the states, 1. how can i get a import permit if i dont know exactly what plants will come with me from the upcoming WOC?

anyone please shed some lights on this .

Thanks!

Antonio.

You can carry a small number (12 I think) of plants into the country without an import permit. However you will need a phytosanitary certification from the seller.

Only 12. And, you are responsible for cost of bonded courier transport to inspection center.

Beyond that you need import permit. Permit is generic, so you do not need names of plants in your future imports.
