Whichever Paphs grow better during which season depends on the Paph. If you're talking about Paph species, I recommend looking up the climate and precipitation patterns where they come from.

If you're dealing with the hybrids, do the same thing as I mentioned above with the parents of the hybrids and try things out.

Even with this knowledge, Paphs are still naturally slow growing. There is no way to force them to grow like weeds. That's not in their nature.

If you're looking for faster growing orchids, you're going to have to look at other kinds of orchids.

I totally understand what you're saying. Even as my Odette's Vision set out two spikes that stalled, my President Fred ended its bloom over a month ago and a second growth is now in short spike. These plants have been "together" outside for the last couple months receiving the same treatment overall. AND my two slowest growing Paphs have been right along with them.

For me, in the end I'm sticking to the fact that I don't think I water enough and I think for a bit they got too much light. But I second that they're all quite different. (All of these I've mentioned btw have mottled leaves.)

I am a Stanhopea man.
And I also cultivate but a dozen plants of the Genus Paphiopedilum.

Though I do not want to over-generalize here, I do generalize as follows.

(a) Plants with mottled leaves which, in nature, would grow in rainforest leaf litter, need acidic compost.
Example P. lawrenceanum.

(b) Plants with plain green leaves which, in nature, would grow in the cracks of weathered cristalline limestone rocks,
will not thrive in acidic compost. Example P. stonei.

Paphiopedilum aficionados, when potting their plants,
should have the basics of (a) and (b) in mind .
