This is an oldish Den speciosum (Thelychiton speciosum) that has been getting a fair bit of sun recently and has sprouted what i think is a flower spike. Dens usually start to spike in August so this is weird. I'm wondering whether its the excess sun that's caused an old Den cane to remember how to flower or whether it means the plant is taking a turn for the worst and decided to flower quick to reproduce.
Any ideas?

Last autumn one of my Sarco. Burgundy On Ice's sent up a spike as did several of my nobile Dendrobiums. The growing seasons of several of my Australian terrestrials has been out of whack for a few years. I suspect the plants are just responding to the unusual weather patterns we've been experiencing over the last few years.
