I think the best you can do is give your plant the best nutrition you can....give enough light, but not too much and provide good air circulation. Avoid extremes in temps...don't over water...and develop a nice healthy root system. (Kelp) After that, you'll get the best the individual plant (and it's genetics) can give. It's common for a phal to bloom and then send up new buds as the older ones are going out. I have several that have been doing that for over a year now. I almost wish it would quit already because the spike is getting too long and it's often in the way.
