Sarcochilus 'Fitzhart' growing a keiki?

Whilst I was considering repotting my Sarcochilus, I saw what I thought was a keiki coming from beside it with it's own roots. Is this correct. I thought only Vandas produced keikis?

Not unusual, new growths appear this way from the main lead. Sarcs are I suppose, Vandas in different cloths. They are Vandaceous & potentially breed with Vandas & certainly breed with Rhynchostylis.

Yes, they grow new fans from the base of existing ones, usually beginning in autumn.

Thanks Roy and Sonya. So I gently broke off the keiki and repotted it on it's own. I had to do this as the keiki was further down the plant and would have been buried in the potting mix, if I had left it attached to the host. Time will tell, if I did the right thing
