Thanks for the responses all.
Antonio, the reason they are asking folks to pay the $213 is because they don't know if they will get 20 people to participate. It would be far easier to refund money than to go to people and ask for more. I can see their point.
I don't know how they would do a credit card transaction, it's just an Orchid club. I'm sorry! I wish there was something I could do.

I tried to contact MEOS thru their website but it seems to be bogged down. Would anyone know if this is open to anyone in the US? Like for me in MI? I imagine OrchidWiz would be shipping the DVDs to MEOS and MEOS would have to mail them out to the individuals who participated in the order. The $213 doesn't seem to include the cost of mailing to individuals?

Yes... yes anyone can participate. We are trying to get 20 people so the price drops. Don't worry about the shipping, it's handled by OrchidWiz. You are being registered with OrchidWiz at the end of the drive. The orchid club will handle the letter postage in the event they receive 20 people for monetary refunds.
$213 is an excellent deal as it is.

i thnk they do accept credit card on their website, if i am not mistaken.

there is also a a promotion code in their website. thats the easiest way to handle it, ask them for promotion code, and the system can take the money from CC with the discount already applied. (using the promotion code into their promotion code box ) . i was not around when they did this with ob members , but i believe they did so using the promotion code thing. (someone correct me if i am wrong)

maybe you would like to reach them and ask about the promotion code? a promotion code that you can administrate on behalf of your orchid club?

Actually, I stumbled across the offer and asked if I could participate in this club's group purchase. I live in Oregon and the President of the club in Maine said that anyone is welcome to participate. I brought the offer here in the event that someone might be interested in purchasing OW at a discount and to help them reach the goal of 20 purchasers.
I sent an email to Glenn (president) and asked about the credit card/promo code. I am awaiting his reply.
We'll see how it shakes out.

We can't take credit cards at MEOS.

We're just trying to make this work and save everyone some money.
As the website says, if they send $213, which is 30% off, we plan to send all of the info and order with one check to OW.
We will get the programs and forward them with any additional discount, minus shipping since we are getting participation from several other states.
I will hold the program open for a reasonable time.
Still waiting for some of the folks who said they were sending checks.
We do have enough for the initial 30% discount now, though.

I stand corrected on the shipping end of things. I imagine shipping would be minimal especially if shipped media mail.

well it doesnt work for me , as i live outside the US.

it seems glen did not catch that there is a promotion code area in orchid wiz store. and that you can actually buy it from the website.

promotion codes are used to include "discounts" in the regular online price once that has been approved and created by the orchidwiz staff.

well anyways. good luck.

Hi Liana, I saw Glenn today at the NHOS meeting and he mentioned that you posted the special offer here. Thanks for doing so.

I paid for OW a year or so ago for a little over $200 with a discount on another board. If you can get it down to $153 dollars, that is a fantastic value for this research and journaling tool.

As for being able to pay by credit card, there are very few societies with this capability. With the advent of PayPal, Square and smartphones, more and more are, but Maine OS doesn't have the capability.

This offer was originally offered to New England orchid societies but I hope you all can take advantage of it.
