Oh, interesting. Yes I would say if this species does grow on trees/rocks in nature then it should be fine to mount.

I was speaking in general about Cymbidiums previously and hadn't realised this was one of the ones that are epiphyte/lithophyte.

Yes it can be mounted. You will need to adjust your watering to accommodate.

But remember, it is an intermediate to warm grower. If you live in an area where it will go below 55 F during the fall or winter, you will only be able to grow it outdoors during the warmer months and would have to grow it indoors for part of the year, or grow it in a greenhouse year round. If you have no problems with growing a mounted orchid indoors or if you grow in a greenhouse, then I don't see why you can't grow this species mounted.

another option is to get a much deeper pot - a cymbidium pot. They are not that common, but you can find them. My ensifolium loves it as it gives more root space vertically. They are also easier to keep upright....

Thank you, everyone. @KOOG I did bring it inside unfortunately the room I had it in got really cold for about a week even with it under heat lamps. I will definitely keep them warmer this year. Also I have 3 other plants that are mounted that I water daily or have sitting in a water dish to keep them hydrated. Texas heat is no joke. Thank you everyone for the help I will post a picture once I figure out what to do with it.

@Orchidsarefun try none existent in these parts I would have to find a seller online for them....perks of living in a super dry and hot climate I guess.

But they do well as a terrestrial. Take it out of the pot, pull a loop of string or twine up through the hole in the bottom of the pot. A long loop. You'll pot up the cym as usual, then tie the base of the cym with the twine. Pull the excess down to tighten the plant in the mix. Take the ends of the twine and bring it up around the sides of the pot and tie it off around the base again. That is a really stable way to tie a cym in the pot.
