Default First Flask!

Just received my first flask, a bunch of Acineta chrysantha seedlings. I'll get pics up after I get them potted, but not sure when that will be! Can't seem to find any BetterGro Sphag. I tried two Lowe's, 2 HDs and a WalMart. It's like being in North Dakota!

Very nice, I was watching a flask of those on Ebay. You may be able to order some Spagmoss New Zealand moss from ebay. It's a premium moss and you will probably love it compared to bettergrow moss

Acinetas - nice! Saw a bunch of superbly grown Acinetas at the WOC in Miami in 2008, and don't think I've seen a single one since. Not surprising in the midwestern US, I suppose. Do you grow others?

I really am falling in love with this tribe! My wife is starting to complain about electric usage, and since these guys are shade lovers I get more bang for my electric buck. The closest I have to another Acineta right now is a hybrid of an Aciopea (Acineta x Stanhopea) crossed back to a Stanhopea. I do have another Stanhopea jenischiana and a Gongora galeata from the same tribe. A local vendor has very nice blooming size A. antioqua and A. beyrodtiana available, but they're a bit pricey. I guess we'll see what the budget looks like next time I'm there.

I was just watching the last one as well, and had to smile when I saw the bidding go over $60. I snagged mine at the initial offering price of $35!

Good deal! I didn't buy one because I am presently out of space in my greenhouse. I have about 20 plants coming in April and have to make room for those. I'm on a moratorium until I can get some of these orchids moved out.
