Today I got a free out of bloom Den. oligophyllum from my florist. I read a little bit about this plant, and it seems it's a warm growing species? Is this a plant I can grow in a mixed collection, or does it require higher humidity?
Is this the excuse I've been looking for to convert an aquarium into an orchid growing chamber?
Have any of you grown this dendrobium, and if so what advice do you have?
Thanks in advance
I have this one but I tend to forget to water it and that doesn't make it very happy. It is so small and easy to miss. It would probably do great mounted in your old aquarium, watered frequently. It blooms all year. Good luck!
I have this plant. I bought it in bloom last spring and it continued to bloom until late summer or fall until all the available nodes on the canes all flowered out. lol
Tiny white flowers with a bit of fragrance.
It needs bright light and lots of water.
It is a hot grower which comes from the lowland tropical Asia (Thailand and Vietnam).
Since the last flowering in the fall, no activity has occurred yet. I wonder if it is too cold for it.
I grow indoor, so the humidity isn't too high, but I find it does fine as long as watering is kept up.
I hope to see some new shoots in the spring.
right now my place is about 65 at night and 70-80 during the day depending how sunny it is.
