Default Pollination Question

My Haraella retrocalla just opened a flower. I notice there's another spike starting as well. If I pollinate the current flower (and it takes of course!), will this have any effect on subsequent blooms? Thanks!

I don't think so.

I have pollinated various Vandaceous Orchids with long spikes, the pollinated flower sort of vilts/dries up, but the rest of the spike develops normally and flowers last their normal time.

It really depends upon the stored resources of the plant. If it's strong enough to throw multiple spikes, I doubt it'll have any impact.

Thanks Ray! The plant was in spike when I got it 6 months ago, and the new spike is the 3rd one it's grown since then, along with several new leaves and roots. Out of all my orchids it's definitely been the best performing so far. I guess I'll pollinate it now! Thanks again!
