I don't worry much about my fertilizer stock solutions as the concentrations of salts are high enough to inhibit growth, I think.
I mix the dilution I am going to use just before I put it on the plants. You might try storing the solution in dark opaque bottles. They used to be sold for storing photo chemicals.

I get big, slimy, spherical white blobs in my concentrate. Unrefrigerated, the blobs appear after about 1 week; in the fridge, they take about 3 months. I usually use up the 1 litre of concentrate before 3 months are up.

Bacterias don't rely on light for a living, cold and an eventual bactericide does the job. No light just won't do, it's not algae.

Hi everyone. Jumping in here to share some advice from the commercial nursery I buy my orchids from. The owner sAys fertiliser mixes should not be left around. They weaken after mixing. So try to use them up all at once. Not possible for those with smaller collections I know. His analogy is leaving a glass of coke around after u have opened it. Loses fizz, taste, etc.
