I mean that I haven't specifically sprayed with only aspirin water, but I did use aspirin water to mix the neem/alcohol/Dr Bronner's preventive treatment....

Viagra makes flowers stand up straight
I thought this was a joke until I read the article in the British Medical Journal (a legit medical journal-I'm an MD), and they explain the mechanism. They just used it on cut flowers, though. Not sure how it would work on intact plants. And they don't describe the concentration needed.

It is also know that Willows have a higher concentration of SA than most plants. This is why the Bayer co. used them. I didn't mean to imply that they were the only plants that had this chemical.

Naoki, thanks for the suggestion and link.
Non-scientific names are often used for entirely different families, genera and species of plants. Without the scientific names, it's not possible to know if they are the same "willows" those of us in North America know, or if they are the same willows that Bayer got salicylic acid from in Germany.
Just sayin.

All willows contain salicylic acid; white willow has the highest concentration, so it was the one that Bayer used.

In my own unscientific observation, orchids mounted on willow branches do better than orchids mounted on other wood.
