Be very careful using pretty much any powdered additive. Being a powder, it has lots of surface area, so can react with the medium very rapidly, and can lead to overdosing or in the case of basic minerals, a huge jump in the pH.
I'll also add that just because one person has been successful with a product, does not mean you will be. Are their growing conditions, watering regimen and potting media identical to yours??? If not, don't assume that the product will necessarily work the same way for you.
