Default Lord why did I ever get introduced to Seattle orchids!!

I don't know why maybe I am slightly addicted to orchids and am always looking for something cool and neat.....who really knows but WHY WHY did I ever have to come across Seattle Orchids!!! They have such pretty flowers it is so unfair!!

ESPECIALLY SINCE I AM IN an ICE STORM at the moment!!!

but here is the baby I ordered....
Cymbidium canaliculatum x madidum

A warm growing cymbidium who is slightly different. It is like a catasetum that has to have a drought during the winter in order to bloom and thrive in the spring/summer. This shall be an interesting plant to have!! Also I will enable others they have 2 more left!!

Hahah, I was just looking at this one but grow many of my larger orchids outdoors and this one probably wouldn't survive our non-snow but cool, wet winters. Cooler cymbidiums grow like weeds here...plop them outside and walk away until next repot. They of course look even better if you pay attention to them and fertilize. Hehe.

Yeah they do not do well here....... In fact they flat out die. BUT catasetum do like it here as well as my warm growing cymbidium.

Awesome dark flower. I have looked at Seattle Orchids. They look like they have the best available stock. I would really shoot myself in the foot financially if I actually bought all the orchids I actually wanted. As it is now, I have cut myself off until late spring, past hurricane/tornado season, when this country's climate has calmed down, and then it is 2-3 Oncidium types. Till then, saving my nickels and dimes. Can't wait.

I love living in Oregon, nestled between the Washington orchids to the north and the California orchids to the south. If only we had some winter sun. But it is having to cram everything under lights in the winter that keeps me from rampant orchid mania and the poor house. Did I mention Hawaii is just across that water there to our west?

lol - went there today, what a tiny shop. Picked up two nice plants, a Phrag Bessae and Bulbophyllum hirundinis - neither in bloom, but hopefully can pull it off.
