Yeah Peewee, it is nice and fancy, but shitty weather:-) Since we are close to the ocean, and very close to the bay, we have very strong wind, to the point that on Tuesday I had to took all my hanging orchids down, because the wind was blowing from the ocean and they were flying away, so 2 hours gone, than wednesday hanging them back again, and watering again, after all being watered monday, so another 3 hours, than it started to rain and now everything soaking:-) I guess fancy part gets punished with shitty weather:-) At least I can go to Bal Harbor mall when the weather sucks like this:-))))

Yes, it is still hot like hell! Few nights we had temps around 72, which was so nice, but that was it, hot and humid again, and rain! Water in the ocean is still over 80 degrees!

86 degrees would be great but as it is I'm still mowing my lawn and I would like a little time off from yard work and play with my orchids, we won't see temps higher than the low 50s for the next few weeks then the snows should show up

For what it's worthy, we had very strong winds also. My mounted orchids are dry as a bone, even though I created this little "pouch" with coconut cloth and moss to maintain some type of moisture. My little yard is a wind tunnel--it toppled a grammatophyllum!

I hope your crazy weather stops soon.

We're into our second day of heavy rain in Ft. Lauderdale. My vandas love it but my cattleyas that are trying to bloom have taken a beating. I've had several buds rot. It's very discouraging.

I hear you Peewee, you know, 5th floor balcony with the wind blowing from the ocean, it is pretty much the same, mounted ones, you water them Monday, and Tuesday morning they are bone dry like if you left them without water for a week. I can't wait for some nicer weather, and winter rest, so I can have little break from all this:-)

So sorry to hear that Tucker, it is so frustrating when you are trying the whole year providing great care and than when your orchids are in buds or with spikes, it all goes to hell just because of the weather. I mean, I know it is normal in "nature", but let's be honest, we all want to see them bloom! I really hope we will get some nice, sunny and no rain winter Florida weather soon, gosh, dry season is suppose to be here any day no???!!!

Norma, I know it is a lot of work to water, since I do it every day, however with the plastic on the top of the green house you can at least control over water, which in Florida is pretty much the big killer, as I see it. I can't wait to see your growing area tomorrow:-)
