Hi, everyone! I asked about this orchid before-- ok maybe I'm a little obsessive. But they're my chids! Anyway, I changed the growing conditions, I pumped up the humidity a bunch and it now hovers around 80%. I took it out of the tiny tiny tiny plastic basket and was going to mount it on wood, but after research it seemed like it wouldn't adhere to anything and I couldn't find bark that was big enough, so I chose this cedar hanging basket. Good plan? I got the idea from a dendrophylax fawcettii specimen on the sboe site, which was growing in a hanging basket.

Also, as you can see, the root in the last pic has some strange curvature, and on the inside of the curve the root is wrinkled and has some brown spots, its like one side of the root is dying and the other is growing. Any idea why this is or how to fix it? Its happening on two roots.

Also, in planning on getting some Spanish moss, do you think I should invest also in one of those small heaters that people use at their desks, in order to raise the temp in there? I'm in New England, the house stays at around 72 ish.

Thanks so much for your help!

According to Jay's internet orchid species, your orchid is native to the Grand Cayman Islands (wish I was there now LOL.) The islands have high humidity and day time temps in the 80s so it would probably do better with more heat during the daytime. Night time temps are in the 70s. Orchids usually prefer gradual change. You can order Baker culture sheets online for more care information. I don't grow this.
