Dendrophylax lindenii day 19
Default Dendrophylax lindenii day 19

Earlier, I promised to post picture of the Dendrophylax lindenii seedlings I got from Oak Hill. A couple of people have grown and bloomed them from seedlings in standard greenhouse conditions. Give it a try if you've got greenhouse conditions. Worse case they die and Oak Hill propagates more seedlings. Best case, you've helped to preserve a rare species. They certainly don't take up much space. Here's how the lucky ones have bloomed them.
Another Ghost Story
Dendrophylax lindenii - Page 2 - Slippertalk Orchid Forum- The best slipper orchid forum for paph, phrag and other lady slipper orchid discussion!
First picture shows the orchids on the day I received them. Oak Hill replaced the mount on the right after seeing a photo of it. Second picture shows them 19 days later. Quite frankly, I'm surprised they're still alive as we've had a spell of low humidity. Many roots have survived and many have died. The larger seedlings seem to be doing better than the smaller ones as would be expected. They are very cool to look at under a magnifying glass.

Forgot to mention, on the right mount is a sprig of tillandsia usneoides, aka Spanish Mouse. I'm growing it in my windowsill "orchidarium".

Another way to help is to donate to their conservation.

Thanks Erica! They might commit suicide under my growing conditions, but that's their choice. I'll try not to get too attached. At least they've lasted longer than a bottle of wine at my house.

With these, I'm going to need a lot of luck..It's great that your other leafless ones are doing well. I hope you try these. With all that practice on the other ones, I bet you can do it.

The first time I was looking for leafless, I was actually looking for this one, but it was impossible to find (except in the flask which I do not do:-)) So II got Dendrophylax funalis instead, than I got Solenangis aphylla and also Chiloschista ramifera. So far, all doing good, so let's hope I can bring one to bloom! I would love to have also lindenii one day:-)

Ooooh I love the Funalis flower. Don't need a magnifying glass to see that flower. Lol. I've got a few leafy ones with tiny flowers that I show to hubby with a magnifying glass. If I recall correctly ramifera has a tiny flower. I need to look up aphylla. You definitely have room for a lindenii. You know there's a law that Miami orchid growers must grow one...wink wink. Oak Hill still has the seedlings for sale. Admittedly they look recently deflasked. Hope to see bloom pictures one day from the ones you have now!
