I'm happy he's taking it back, he's a great seller, so I knew he'd make it right. I do agree with orchidsarefun that you should try to get him to reimburse the shipping, even if policy states otherwise, it's worth it to ask again or at least state what you think is fair.

hmmm......it is up to you, but I would argue its not a return due to the plant being wrong/damaged.....you are returning it because they should never have sent out a rotting plant in the first place.

UPDATE: I emailed them Wednesday to make sure that they did receive it (as well as to have a confirmed paper trail...even good sellers can forget/be slightly shady) he emailed me this morning saying he did receive it. He was currently having to slowly go through 75 boxes. They must have gotten a HUGE order in from some european sellers I guess.

He did state he did in fact find a catasetum but not mine....though did pike my interest....though if it is by same seller they bought from.....not so sure want to go there....

They had a 2 color epidendrum up for bid....in the pictures I saw same leaf water damage as the one that came with my sick catasetum....not thinking want to try that...even though I really liked the crown of bright orange and the lip as a pea green....

If by Tuesday I have again not heard any updates I will be emailing again.

Nada yet. I just edited lol!! If by tuesday I had not heard I will be emailing again and most likely just ask for a refund...not being ugly but with that almost 50 dollars I can bid on a really cool looking catasetum by another high rated seller.a catasetum I have never seen...thats just me though.

Get whatever you like and feel good about, don't get pressured with choosing "something else" from the same seller if you do not want to! The plant was not healthy when shipped and therefor you can just ask for refund and get what you want elsewhere if there is not the same healthy plant from this seller:-) Good luck with this!

Thanks. Im going to stay away from this seller for a while....especially if that 75 boxes came from the seller who sold them the sick and damaged chids to begin with.

I do not want to judge, and I am not sure, I have also never bought from this seller, so this is just my thought - no matter where the seller gets his orchids, if it is professional seller, he should first make sure they are healthy and ready to be shipped! I do not like seller reshipping in the speed of light some sick imports or plants without even checking them or making sure there is nothing wrong. Just my thinking:-) I assume that's why Seattle orchids for example has pre-orders - where they specify that the plant was recent import and they do want to make sure for another 3-4 weeks that the plan is actually in good shape and healthy to be shipped! Makes sense to me!

I feel the exact same way. I am glad he is at least looking into it. But the fact of the matter is even I smelled rot and mold, and saw mold on the newspaper when I opened the box. In two days time during a cold spell I dont see that happening rapidly. I have said once will say it again. I am shocked that such a highly reputable seller would do something like this.
He has since apologized by saying sorry the plant was not well....but I still am kind of on the fence about how you could not see it was sickly...not being rude call me judgy and *ill mannered* if you will. This is my personal opinion:
But I am again a baker on the weekend and this plant was the equivelant of a burned half risen and fallen cake with canned whipping cream sprayed on it for effect and then delivered to a wedding....not impressed...at all...especially for almost 50 dollars, and my epidendrum is not far off from that either.

I just have to question why send something that looked like this in the first place.....
