Florida Black Olive Trees
I was recently informed during the Fairchild tropical botanic garden plant sale that these types of trees do not like epiphytes, and chemically avoid them through their bark.
I have resurrection ferns and some tiny tillandsias that are growing on it, but I was wondering if anyone has mounted ANYTHING successfully to these live trees.
Aside, should anyone be interested, I have more branches and roots (the twigs and branches look rather unique) than I know what to do with that should be great for mounts after they die, because the wood is rich in tannins and won't rot quickly.
ALSO,
I was hoping to find some compact growing sympodial plant with a creeping habit to grow on the trunk...apart from den. lindleyi, I'm not sure what else would potentially work. (since I could always at least mount a plaque to the tree)
