Seven of my L. anceps are in spike!! WHAT IS GOING ON PEOPLE?????

Let's not forget my Aerides Punchinello. WASSUP!!!

We all love blooms, but I feel spikes are like your parents promising to take you to the amusement park and just never getting there! (giggle)

What are you anticipating? What's in spike/bud for you?

Yay for you! And I'm in full agreement about your feelings towards spikes! Especially short spikes, I pull my plants leaves apart constantly to check on them, impatiently waiting, hoping that by looking at them I can will the spikes to grow faster! So far, it hasn't worked!

Right now this is what I have in spike/sheath: Vanda merrillii, Vanda Angelica Vale, Vanda Pure's Wax, Lc Betty Ford 'York', Brassavola Little Stars, Brassavola cucullata, and Rynchostylis gigantea (red).

Finally have a spike forming on my vanda manuvadee. It seems to be taking its sweet time though! Only about 1/2 inch in a couple weeks.

Mmmm, I'm sensing that you're a tad excited. Spiking for me at the moment is an Asco, a mokara and an oncidium in addition to the ones already in flower.

Always extremely happy when my babes are spiking. At this time my Vascostylis is pushing one, Monnierara 2 spikes, haraellas each of my 3 one-tree spikes, Bulbo Shirley as well. Encyclia cochleata is in 2 spikes for some 5 months now still blooming, and my favorite Habenaria medusae has finally fully open whole spike! My Cat luteola had 2 buds which I killed 2 days ago by my stupidity with orange guard:-( Stellamizutaara has one spike open and one new pushing right now as well. Macroclinium manabinum in full open spike too. Checking every day for more:-)

Hehe you are excited! I know the feeling!

For me, my maculata is in bud, think it may have stalled tho my Lepanthopsis astrophora's are in spike (always get excited for those), my P. amboinensis is in bud.. Taking its sweet time (running late), Gastrochilus japonica is just starting a new spike, Restripia striata is still sending up more spikes (in love with this guy, in bloom all summer and spring.. & continues to be)... Hmm.. That may be it! there's a couple more, that are still opening some more buds, that I had gotten for my b-day a couple weeks ago (P. equestris var leucaspis, and P. Javalin "Many")

hmmmm I got 2 spikes on a bowringiana with 9 flowers total... I wanted more .. They can do better.

1 spike on a Bc Everything nice...2 buds
1 spike Vanda Perry 'Bow' dont see any buds yet buts its FAT. Bag baby Line orchid.
1 spike Neostylis Baby angel...
22 asst paphs in spike...some are new ones to replace hail damaged plants. The damaged plants are all under supervision and just getting past UGLY with new growths starting to mature. Takes about a year. Some will bloom 2 times a year if the plant it big enough.

sheaths count tooooo.
5 sheaths on c.loddigesii
4 sheaths on c.aurantiaca ;orange spots'.bloomed early in the year
6 sheaths on c. walkeriana 'monte azul'.The plant had 8 bulbs to start when I bought it. Grew 10 new growths this summer. It has broken the clay pot it was in and needs re potted but I will wait.
1 sheath L.purpurata
1 sheath L.purpurata carnea
3 sheaths on lc roebling coerulea. 1 new bulb in 2 years and no blooms. This year 3 new growths all with GIANT sheaths.
5 sheaths on rhyn. glauca..Another amazing plant. Have divided this one 2 times in a year. One plant mounted had 12 new bulbs and the one potted has 16 ..Its gone crazy!!!
B cuculatta 1 sheath..slow growing
B David Sander 1 sheath.slower growing.
B little stars 3 sheaths.grows like a weed and has bloomed once this year already.
Bc Little Mermaid 2 flowers, 2 more spikes with 7 more flowers and 3 new ones w/sheaths . I want more of these plants.
Blc. Romeo. 1 sheath and bloomed already once this year.
Blc. Orglades Charm 1 sheath.
Epc. Golden Sunburst 3 sheaths.
Epc. Kyoguchi 'Fumi' 1 sheath.

These are just the ones I can remember

When the night temps drop down for a few more weeks here, the phals should start spiking. Big Leaf crop from last march are small but all bloomed and blooming sized..

Lucky guys! All I've got in bloom right now is Stlma Kelly 'Lea,' and a noid phal. I'm very depressed because two of my C aclandiae's sent up buds that were rotted from perfectly fine psb's. Only thing I can assume is all the rain, even though I've been hanging them under shelter during continuing storms but they do get a deluge every once in a while. Boohoo!!!
