Our night temps in winter have been 62 for years. We also have a down comforter and lots of sets of fleece wear. We choose to run daytime temps at 67 (pretty much same as Ray). I run 62 from 9PM to 8AM and 67 rest of time. I use a programmable unit to control it. Orchids have been fine with that. Lights overhead raise the temps most days into 70s even with ambient temp of 67. My orchidarium runs from mid 60s at night to mid 70s day because it's in basement which is more moderate.

Don't forget, she's from Georgia. Her a/c bills are probably as bad as our heating bills.

That said, I'd go with lower temps at night and higher during the day which generally reflects natural conditions.

You'll probably find it a bit easier on the electric bill too.

Cheers.
Jim

Thank you, Jim. I appreciate that you got my point (though I'm not originally from GA. I moved from Michigan with SOME thoughts of escaping the cold. )

Anywho, . . . a contributing factor to the situation is that my thermidistat is located closer to the chids, but farther from my bedroom. While it maintains the proper temps. for my chids, my bedroom must be about 3 or 4 degrees cooler .

How-so-ever, . . have no fear Quiltergal, Ross, and Ray, I have a space heater AND comforters and such. I've made the change already.

Now, who's ready to hang some lights???? Anyone?

Hello?

Is there anybody there?

Darn! I KNEW they'd run away!

Not me! I'm still up here in Michigan hanging lights and would welcome a respite in the sunny southland. But, alas, it's not to happen this year!

Ross,

I sure went to sleep. I JUST returned from visiting my mom in Detroit. I forgot that you are in MI! We got a light dusting of snow. How is it up in Cadillac?
