I totally dunk mine, 'cause I already know they aren't fragrant (to me). No they don't spot or have any adverse reactions. All I have "heard" is that until you know whether yours is fragrant or not, don't get the flowers wet. Can't tell you I know from experience because I do not. I just smelled the first blossom I got, didn't smell anything, so it went into full dunk mode from then on
