Good candidates for mounting
Default

I would not mount a Paph, and I rip pretty much anything out of a pot. 80% of my collection is mounted, but my 3 paphs are in pots (plus a few pleuros, some odd experiments).

Medium and culture are tightly correlated. What may grow on a mount in a humid greenhouse may have to be pot-grown indoors. It also depends where you live (desert vs. swamp). I have a mounted Pholidota that was sold to me as a in-door SoCal plant by a highly reputable vendor, but slowly declined. Eventually, I put it into my 70-80% RH GH and now it thrives. So a healthy distrust to any vendor information is in order. I don't think anybody intentionally misleads, but what is "moderately humid", or "partial shade"? And the combination of factors of light, water, nutrients, temperature, RH, medium make a complex fabric of factors.
