Kindrag, thanks for looking. Are you growing them outdoors? Most Cyms don't like extremely high temps and like cool evening temperatures. Perhaps someone on the Orchid Board Cym thread from your area can suggest one that would work for your conditions. I'm fairly new to them, but they do so well in the microclimate here, they're often treated like a garden plant...so I don't have to do anything special.

Ouch! When you recover from the loss, time to try a new one.

kindrag: I hope I am not insulting your knowledge of orchids but: Many cymbidiums will not do well in our hot conditions. You need to be sure to buy a warm growing variety. HTH

@FotoFashion not at all, I have been keeping them inside where it was cooler...They just do not care for me lol. I seem to have better luck with Oncidium/Odontaglossum lol. Maybe I will just stick with them and Catasetum haha.

I've got 3 plants of big-flowers hybrid Cymbidium (usually cold growers): They were under the snow at -2°C for 1 week.. They suffer the 35°C of August. Check the climatic conditions they prefer.

EDIT: Neomoorea arrived yesterday, I'm gonna post a pic in the afternoon. I think I need some MORE than 2 years to flower....

Good to see a post on how much cold they have survived. I got this Cym from a grower who doesn't heat his green house. He doesn't use a thermometer and couldn't tell me how cold it got. I have 3 thermometer / humidity gauges and would like more.

Mine also get down to -2 (assuming that was Celsius) in winter. Sometimes lower.
Humidity rests between 40 - 60 % in winter.
I've only had mine through one winter though.
Sometimes we get down to - 4 here.
My neighbors cyms are always fine though.

I will say though that my area never experiences frost or snow. Ever. So maybe going that low in other areas isn't recommended.
