My experience with Sharry Baby has been very positive as well....I would keep looking on EBAY....vs spending $75 for a non- blooming specimen .

BTW on advice for a local grower, I will never buy another orchid unless it is flowering, or has recent evidence of flowering

Got this one on EBAY a few years ago and recently divided...grows like a weed!

@Nanook10 why not buy if not bloom size or already bloomed?

Also ahhh yours is the beautiful one in the exquisite garden that I remember seeing on here. With the pretty ponds etc..

My husband stumbled across and entire orchid collection being sold on ebay. Fortunately, it was nearing my birthday so he says...."Would you like orchids for your birthday?" (Like I'm going to say no????) :blushing:

The pictures looked awesome...but hey, they're pictures. You get a little leary about these kinds of things. The lot was 57 orchids, mostly specimen sized Catts. Turned out to be an elderly woman who had been collecting for decades...and could no longer keep up with her orchid house. :(

We took the road trip....only a 45 minute drive up I-75 towards Gainsville. SCORE! All tagged...no visable signs of pathology or bugs.

It was a GREAT birthday present for $400.00 bucks! (Which means he paid $7.02 each!)

No issues if you know you are buying a small orchid ....not blooming size

This was meant more for those buying online and spending a good amount in a large plant.....

Haul from Orchids in the Park San Francisco

Oh what fun it was. Here's what I got... I think orchid addicts need a 'sober companion' like other addicts:D
To grow indoors:
Maxillaria sanguinea--cool looking plant that even looks good out of bloom IMO.
Arangis citrata--since I reserved it by email, I got one with two little spikes. The ones for sale were smaller and had none.

To grow outdoors with some frost protection playing the game of, "how low can they go?" I'll get the Baker culture sheets for a guideline.
Cym. Oktoberfest
Cochlioda noeziliana with 4 spikes
Zygopetulum (no tag so I guess it's a NOID)
Caucaea phalaenopsis
Lc. Chyong Guu Swan 'Ruby Lip' AM/OSROC
And the photos:
