Greetings,
I received this flask of Stanhopea already deflasked. The sender warned me that there is some leaf loss, but I think that it is maybe about 99% of leaf loss. It does look pretty bad to me and I am in shock. Needless to say that I waited for this flask for a year.
What do you think is there any chance of survival?
Thank you.

First, let me say that I'm sorry you shocked and disappointed. I know exactly how that feels, especially when it's from a reputable vender. That is a plant that has been on my wish list for sometime, so I know how difficult it can be to come by.

It is hard to tell from the picture if it is a total loss. If I were you, I would wash each seedling with warm water and remove the dead leaves and roots. Lay the good plants on a sheet of newspaper, as well as the dead stuff on another sheet of newspaper. Use photo documentation, if the amount of "good plants" is less then what the seller promised, I would definitely contact them and send pictures, with hopes of either a replacement flask or refund.

I hope it all works out for you! Please let us know the outcome!

I received a baggie from the same vendor, different orchid. I thought that none would survive as they came in one big root ball......and a mess of dead leaves, with 6 inch plants mixed in with 1/4 inch plants. It took me at least 45 mins to untangle. Needless to say there was a lot of leaf and root loss.
However I am happy to say that most have survived and its been about 2 weeks.
Don't give up hope, but do take plenty of photos just in case.
