EPLC. Jackie Bright in bloom in a basket
This EPLC is a sturdy and reliable bloomer. It is planted in a wire basket with bark and sphagnum and hangs on the back porch from April to October. It was a Lowe's plastic Baggie a couple years ago. Some were even trying to bloom in the bag.

nice clean plant and really nice flowers, and lots of them
I think you got the right idea with the EPLC's in baskets. I have my Bag Babies in clay pots and the leaves are all floppy doppy like they are in these hybrids and hanging over the edges of the pots. No big deal really if you have the room a basket affords you. I try to keep my foliage from taking up too much of my limited space and I think I just got a new plan for my EPLC's taking up too much of it on the bench.
Thanks!!!

Just a random question about the basket (because that's a cool idea!), do you have any problems with the basket's material hanging on to excess moisture? Or does it drain well? And is that the material that came in the basket or is that something you put in yourself? (I see baskets lined like that - I think - in a lot of garden centers and I had wondered if they'd work for orchids or not)
I imagine it's fine given how happy your orchid looks!

Beautiful! I've heard good things about that orchid. I bought one but it's still very small. I hope blooms as nicely as yours. Good growing.

The basket is wire mesh with a liner of some fibrous material, and the bark, sphagnum perlite mix is in the basket. The water runs right through it and the mix dries very quickly so no rot, plus it get morning sun and breezes and humidity hanging on the porch all day. I got it at either Lowe's or Home Depot. They hang in the greenhouse November to February or March. I'm I. Zone 7b or 8a depending on the changing data.

I'm a little more north than you in 7a, and we enjoy below freezing temps and snow here in winter. *sigh*
I was so intrigued by you putting them in those baskets, though, I never would have thought of that. Logging it away for my future grown up house options during summer (curse having an apartment!).
