Not so surprising... I built one for one tiny masdi veitchianna. Glad I'm not alone

Of course then I had to buy more orchids to fill the greenhouse

Rosie, that gave me a good chuckle too! Lol, HighSeas, We ARE owned by orchids! I would totally build a greenhouse for one orchid!... Or 40 Buuut, since I don't have any carpentry skills... or money... (I seem to be very good at spending most what I do have..... on more orchids ) I'll just have to save up for a greenhouse, and wait 'til I can actually get one

*bergdj, if ya need a good beach vacation, and have the urge to build a greenhouse again.... You are more than welcome to come visit NC!

Also, don't believe all the care/culture info you read on the 'net about orchids...Sometimes, the advice can be really, REALLY bad! Other times, tho, it can be really good... One thing I do, is if I find advice, I look around to see if it's repeated by multiple sources... One of my favorites, is the Baker's Culture sheets... they are Great! (u just have to pay like $25 for 30 sheets ~species orchids, no hybrids~ but u can get the parents' (of primary/close to primary hybrids parents) sheets) Here's the Sheet List: (also, they do have some that are free, so look at those to get an idea of what kind of info they give you.. Which is a lot of good info! ) Culture On Demand Sheet List
Also, IOSPE (Internet Orchid SPecies Encyclopedia) is a good site, it's huge, (he has TONS of genuses/species) so I just google the orchid species, and this (IOPSE) usually comes up. The AOS has great care guides too (they are by genus ~ "general" culture advice) they are good, and solid... You don't have to wonder! And, obviously, the Orchid Board is great! This place is FULL of knowledgable growers!

LOL RosieC,

i guess "the orchids owns a grower", and it is not the other way around such as "the grower owns orchids" ?

food for thought.

nah. i am happy with my orchids owning me. LOL.

If I didn't live in an apartment in a highly populated city, I would surely have a greenhouse built

You should take it in at night. How are the roots, they might suffer from being cold and wet. I would definitely not water twice a day. Depending on the species it can grow in full light, so it can take heat and dryness. They got pretty substantial pseudobulbs.
