Little risky, but bringing my orchids outdoors
I've been waiting this whole time to finally bring my vanda pkchng blue and vandofinetia outside for fresh air, I am confident that the weather won't damage them. Right now Brooklyn weather is between 62-65 some days 60 and since my blue vanda is a mix with a chilly tolerant vanda I think it was coerulea, I believe it will be ok and I've read neofinetias tolerate chilly weather as well. To be safe I'll bring them in at night and I'll post pictures at the end of the week for a check in. Of course i'll introduce them to light carefully so they wouldn't burn.
My vandofinetia has been growing perfectly, my vanda blue has been giving me trouble with brown tips =\ so hopefully things will balance out since its growing very nice looking new leaves.

This is a picture from a few minutes ago, orchids in dappled sun for now. There's a tree that perfectly filters the sun, some steady sun rays throughout the day and some shade. 65F

I have all my plants outside except the chocolate trees. If it gets cold again, I bring in the plants that are hot-growing and cover the rest. If I waited until it was completely safe, it would be July before I put them out. We have had hard frosts in June (I grow fruit so I know!).

I was thinking of putting some of mine from the greenhouse out, but the outdoor thermometer got down to freezing last night, though it's warmed up pretty quick this morning. Think I'm going to leave it a bit longer.

Night temperatures atm range from 47°F/8°C to 55°F/12°C so I bring them indoors at dusk.

Katsols, I'm in Northern NJ so I'm a week or 2 behind you. I will put outside on my patio with the night temps are consistently above 50F, except for the warmest growers. I've not ha a problem with that. of course, I haul them all back in if the temps look threatening.
BTW, My sister's nickname is Katso (somehow derived from Katherine). So I LOL at your name

I actually put a Milt spectabilis outside in the daytime the last few days bringing it in at night. Forgot it last night though, got down to 4C and seems to be fine.

I'm about to put my Cyms, Den and some Catts out. It's getting to be consistently above 50F at night now. Just built a little plexiglass roof for my monopedials to reduce the probability of crown rot. Rain barrel is installed too to provide better quality water. The great migration will begin soon!
