Lysol Spray
claims to kill 99% of viruses and bacteria.
Instead of the palava of a blow-torch or bleach mixing, do you think that spraying a cutting tool with Lysol would be good enough ?

Killing 99% means that 1% turns into super-bugs with immunity against Lysol. A flame kills 100%.

NO, Lysol is NOT a solution to fighting virus. However, a fine mist over Cym. buds just before they open will prevent botritus without damage to the flowers. Cannot speak for other orchid genera.

Sounds like nothing more than meaningless marketing babble.

Does it destroy non encapsulated viruses, some pathogenic plant viruses are of the non encapsulated type.
Flame destroys all.

oops - it says 99.9% of all viruses, including....
novovirus
avian flu
hepatitis A
rhinovirus
influenza A and B
active ingredients
Ethanol - 58 %
dimethyl benzyl ammonium saccharinate .10%
I don't know if any of the above are examples of non-encapsulated viruses.

Part of this is marketing, and part is true. It will kill a lot of viruses. However, they have to soak in it for awhile. Ie, you cant just spray and wipe off. Just use a dilute bleach or a flame. It's better, and a guarantee if done right. And it's not like either are tough to find.

I was just going to mention the fact that Lysol does kill all the germs it says it does, but again, you have to leave it wet with the stuff for like 20-30 minutes before it will. Flame and bleach both work well and I really don't like to use Lysol either - it's an aerosol spray and you breath the stuff whether you want to or not. It is not good for the lungs!!

Great aerosol point Steve. My comment about marketing was inrespone to the time it takes to kill those bacteria/viruses. Just stick with bleach or a flame, or a new razor each time. Annoying, but they work!
