Trouble with downloading pics
Hey everyone -
Is anyone else having trouble uploading pics? I have always just taken my pics from my camera memory card, downloaded them to the computer, then attached them on the posts. I have tried everything today, as when I try to download pics it says the pic is either too large pixels-wise, or that the file is too large. Neither is really true as I downloaded a pic two weeks ago and tried to load it today and it gets rejected.
Again - any other problems?

I uploaded 3 phtotos of my mini phals today into the gallery. I was trying to remember how to upload them into posts... but it seemed to work linking them from the gallery.

Thanks for the suggestion, but just tried to upload pics into my gallery and got the same message; that the pic was too large and that I would have to re-size it manually. I even tried a pic I had previously uploaded into the gallery, with no changes on my end, but it would not accept it.
It was worth a try, but to no avail - I think it is time to contact a Mod.

Maybe something has changed, requiring smaller photo files. Just a thought
Actually here is one of mine that loads OK. It was only 42Kb as I downsize them for the web..
I see the little thumbnail isn't showing up but the link for it is working fine.

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH - I don't know how to resize and when I downloaded the resizer that RosieC provided a link to, I ended up downloading something called "Babylon word translator" as a part of the download. I had to reset my computer to a previous setting to get rid of this as it was invasive and set off my malware alert. I am no tech-wiz (does it show?) and really needed a new orchid ID'ed. I just PM'ed a Moderator and am awaiting a response.
Not sure what has happened, but I really don't like it. The nice thing was how easy it was to download and make an attachment out of the pics.
Thanks for the suggestion -

How big is the picture file you are trying to upload? Can you set your camera to the poorest quality and smallest file size and take the photo that way? Do you use the little paper clip to attach it?

I have tried to make the photo the worst quality possible and it then says that I am trying to download a 152.8 MB file when the photo says it is only 1.14 MB. I have tried everything I know (which is not a lot) but again, no luck. Yeah, I use the little paperclip and I have learned to upload one pic at a time as multiples will often not load this way; It took longer, but worked. I tried to upload a pic that I had previously uploaded but still get the same notices no matter what I do.
I hate it when my camera is smarter than me, not to mention my computer!!!

Sorry, don't know how else to help. There are two settings in my cameras. One is for file size and one is for picture quality and they both affect the end result in size.
There are some simple free software programs to downsize. I know you tried one, but I can look for one and let you know it if you want. I use Photoshop so not an option for you unless its on your computer for someone else. If so, I can guide you thru that.

silken, sham, Orchids4ever - I appreciate the offer of help, but am to the point of throwing up my hands tonight. No I don't have Photoshop as my computer can do more than I understand now.
Well, I will just have to placate myself by mounting the new orchid and will post later when I have more patience....
Thanks again everyone - just another example of what quality members we have - always ready to help as can.
