Phalaenopsis pathogens/fungus trial run
Salicylic Acid or Aspirin for human consumption.
This thread might be quite surprising for most.
Salicylic Acid (S.A) in a natural defense compound found in all plants, trees... and for some reason be produced in insufficient quantity by plants, some subjecting rising level of S.A will greatly improve overall health.
For the last 16 months I am conducting evaluation although I am using it for the past 6 or 7 years on Adeniums without any negative side effects.
In June I decided to test for pathogens/fungus, a Phal. was chosen knowing the sensibility to crown rot.
plant positioned upright and by 10 PM was heavily sprayed with S.A solution and left outside rain or not and sprayed again on a regular 3 weeks schedule.
A second was added by the of July and finally a third in September. By then all plants want through Florida summer rainfall with a 5 consecutive days under TS Debbie without any specks of diseases, crown, stem, roots rot
In early October first blooms started to open with several night rainfall and not a single spot of Botrytis blight. I which I could post few pictures.
I sincerely encourage to explore this new approach, it's very powerful.
Happy growing
Patrick

I am very sorry, I forgot to mention the most important
You want to buy the lowest quality possible, best be un-coated aspirin, could never find any here in Naples, I bought mine in the dollar store *175 tablets for 1$. I crush the tablet and disolve it in a little water, in sprayer tank and fill-up to my 2 gallons and I always spray ar night for maximum absorbtion.
Strength at 325 mg (INSAID) *aspirin
Rate of dilution 1 tablet in 2 gallons of water every third week.
If you search the web you will find many safe dilution at 700 mg which I personally think it's to high for a long run it can easily kill so stay on the safe side

It's hard to believe but it goes far more behind that.
A.S it's also an excellent growth enhancer,
also killed mild virus on my 2 exotic ivy geranium,
Pathogens/fungus as I described already
Changes of light and heat requirement.
I will be conducting for the next 6 months cold and fungus resistance and a very difficult palm Cyrtostashy Renda, on 2 plants given to me by Rare Palms Nursery to conduct this specific trial. I am affraid Phals. will also under goes same test.

Do you think it's ideal to spray now? It's kind of cold in Chicagoland. I'm truly intrigued by the aspirin regimen!

I don't know, I will an answer in March next year.
Take on plant and try it like I did, in theory it should work as you will be increasing plant self defense.
If you try it, let us know,
Note: the only scientific that I know of was made in Central or South America by the domain of forestry, level of S-A was naturally increased under heat and cold waves as well heavy rain which match my experiment so far

This is fascinating, very good work. I'm sure it will help people who live in cooler climates a lot! Have you done trials with allicin/garlic? apart from smelling bad I have heard it works well too
