Question Peel & Flip continued

I was having a hard time explaining which part was holding water on the catts. Some of the plants grow right on up past this and some don't. Maybe the pictures will help explain. One is a dried, black looking sheath and the other remains green.

I cut and/or peeled this material back in order to stop it from holding moisture. The black is easy but when it's still green and a sheath is showing, it's a bit harder to do.

The question is, Do you peel yours back?

I usually peel back the sheath around the pseudobulb if it is black or dryed out. I do this very carefully not to harm the plant. I peel the dead sheath since it prevents rot of the psuedobulb, it allows light to reach the psuedobulb thus more exposure to light, it allows me to see whether the plant is suffering from lack of water from looking at the psuedobulb, and it makes the plant look better. I guess it is a matter of preference.

When the sheath is still green it is supporting the developing pb. I once peeled a green one and the pb was all soft and had a hard time supporting its own and the leaf's weight.. So I'd leave the green one alone and remove the black or dried
