Default Mounted my Ghost orchids on Hygrolon®

Hygrolon® is not available in the USA...so I messaged Magnus if he will be kind enough to share some of his Hygrolon®

Magnus sent me thru the mail : 2ft X 1 ft Hygrolon® ....I wanted to pay him for it but we just agreed on a trade....
Here are pictures of my ghost orchids (leafless plants) mounted on Hygrolon®

picture

1. The 2ft X 1 ft Hygrolon® spread to fit my plants ( the one on the middle is my Dendrophylax lindenii=American Ghost orchid and I decided not to move it from its mount because the roots are hard to pry out from the slats)

2&3. Chiloschista usneoides (Asian Ghost Orchid)

4&5. Microcoelia bulbocalcarata

I will post again in a month's time on how the mounts are doing.
I have a lot of extra material so I will do a mount on my miniature Vandas next

Thanks a million Magnus !!!!!!!

This material seems very exciting. Maybe there is a way for the roots of the orchids to grow while attached to the hygrolon, so that they can be peeled off together with the hygrolon if the plant needs to be divided. Currently, dividing my catt mounted on fernbark is an impossible nightmare.

Thank YTou, sthh !
yes dividing wont be a nightmare all you need is cut the fabric-like material without touching the roots; in fact you can let the roots have the material with it(its not decaying at all, not even fading in color)

Thank You Kevin for the visit and your kind comment!

That's interesting that you wrapped half a sheet of EpiWeb in hygrolon. That'll be an interesting test to see which the plant likes better.

Cheers.
