Thanks for all the pointers. Pressure release valve is standard with most; don't know why there are even any without one.

Drying is not an issue. I use it if not every day, certainly every other day.

Too bad there are no specific manufacturers, brands, models mentioned, and why they are good. I think any sprayer where you have to twist the pump handle to open the reservoir is bad. It is often not easy to figure out from the picture how the unit is opened.

Looked at tractor supply, none in that price range, and some look like the bad handle-twist kind.

Its hard to open if the vacuum is on...you need to release the small valve with the strawlike pipe to let air in then you open the main cap

Solo 1.5-gallon Handheld Sprayer - GEMPLER'S

make sure the pump you are buying has viton seals instead of rubber. Solo makes good hand held and backpack sprayers. Sprayers on wheels sprayers for insecticide, herbicides, and fertilizers. Bottom line is you want something chemical resistant and with good seals. I bought a round up 2 gal sprayer and I dont like it bec It doesnt get a good enough mist out of it and I hose stuff down anyway. It was meant for applications to kill weeds and the mist nozzle sucks plain and simple. Industrial grade with viton seals and as many brass parts as you can get. plastic parts are crap and we all know that. And look for the made in USA label if you can find one..Good luck

I like Chapin brand (Chapin Sprayers - Manufacturing Excellence Since 1884). Customer service people are outstanding and the metal sprayers are really sturdy. I have several of the 1 Liter hand held models that I keep filled with different solutions. One has fertlizer, one has phyton, one plain water.
