I tried with a couple of Masdevallia spp. and was not successful.
I recommend more traditional ways of growing Pleurothallids. There are a good number of them that are not that hard to grow anyways if you consider the elevations they come from in the wild and whether the climate/micro-climate you are growing these orchids are warm or cool enough for their liking.
On top of that, many of them are moderately fast growing to very fast growing when compared to orchids like Phalaenopsis.
There are a few slower growing Pleurothallids, but as is expressed, that is a fairly uncommon case.
