Indoor growing: humidifier vs humidity trays?

I use both trays and a humidifier.

I use the trays to collect the extra water from waters my orchids. I keep hydrotron in the trays to kee the roots out of standing water.

I use the humidifier to really add humid to the whole area. I have a fan the oscillates over everything very lightly, just making some air movement.
