I use both and the trays DO increase humidity but only locally around the plants, you won't see a rise in the room humidity. I use the trays now mainly to hold water for the ones that like wet feet = ALL my Bulbs. and my Ctsms. when in their growing cycle suck it up quicker than I can replace it !!!
