Vacation care... water before dry?

Some orchid/floral shops will do it for you for a small fee and even offer boarding of the plants. Orchid Kennels.

At some point you have to decide if you want to really grow orchids or you want to continue to take vacations. If your just playing with a few plants, seriously why worry?

Yikes do we have to choose between vacations and orchids. Just get a good house sitter or board them.

Vacation? What's that? With nearly 3,000 orchids, I had better have someone lined up to tend to them if I wanted to go on a vacay...

I have it all sorted out, since I usually just go home in France, the orchids go on vacation with me! I only have 70, so if I leave for more than 2 weeks then I take most of them. The rest are given to friends to look after.

I haven't left long enough to worry about mine really. 3 days at most.

i leave my gh for a week at a time sometimes when i have traveling to do...and everything stays fine, i water thoroughly before i go, and i have a mist machine that keeps the humidity up...so all is well when i return...any really sensitive plant goes on the floor near wet gravel and in theshade...gl and enjoy your trip!
