Yeah, 325 is correct. My mistake. That means, of course that to achieve the 15 mMol concentration, you'd have to dissolve about 435 of them in that quart of water!

If you read the article, there are 2 significant points to take away: one was that even after applying that strong of a solution (salycilic acid or aspirin), after 24 hours only 1.4% of the salycilic acid moved into plant tissues. At a half-tablet per gallon, the amount transferred will likely be much less, if even measurable.

Secondly, they talk about a commercial product for such treatments, noting that it (Actigard) is "kindler and gentler to plants than salycilic acid or aspirin."

Honestly Starwhiz I think I will stick to my regimen of foliar feeding and for now I'll let Mother Nature water!! Seems she's got an over flowing water bucket. We are getting 1" to 3" of rain nightly for the rest of the week.

Ray, thanks for doing the math for us. All that is beyond me! Now, I wonder if I can buy Actigard in Canada!

I don't know if I'd bother looking, Shirley. In their testing, the effects were only good for a couple of weeks at most.

One thing though:-

The willow tree (Salyx) (and that's where aspirin gets the
name Salysilic Acid) synthetises aspirin in its bark.

It is well known that "willow water" has a rooting hormone like efffect on cuttings, probably due to some
other compounds than aspirin alone? Maybe also the
association of aspirin and auxins has a boosting effect on
root promotion. Worth a try?

Have used asperin for several years now mixed at 3 for two gallons of water. According to the article I read it is supposed to prevent fungus and bacteria. I cant deffinately say it does anything - but it sure hasnt hurt anything. I mix 50 gals at a time with 17 asperin. I think I kept the article in my e-mail files if anyone is interested. Asperin is a derivitive of the acid in willow bark. Willows grow in or near the water - and dont rot so maybe there is something to it - maybe not.

Hi friends, i want to start this discussion again. Has anyone found any result after a trial using aspirin water?
I sprayed my plants today at a concentration of 400mg/gallon.
I will be observing the plants for two weeks.
I am looking forward to responses if any.
