I would also suggest getting books by Steven Frowine from your library. The one on mini/compact orchids is an eye-opener. I didn't realise for example that there were so many zygo crosses that would fit what you are looking for ! ( I mention zygo's as they are one of my favourites - with impressive flowers and the added bonus of being fragrant )

Lol! I actually just got his book from the library a few days ago. It is really interesting!
With my growing space quickly filling up with catts and large vandas I started to look for something smaller too and recently added to my wishlist These guys:
Gastrochilus acutifolius
Gastrochilus bellinus
Gastrochilus calceolaris
Gastrochilus japonicus
They are vandaceous, but much smaller then vandas and look so cute in bloom.
I think they could fit your warm environment.
