You have the ideal growing conditions for them where you live, they like very bright light but I would protect them from the noontime sun, lots of water as they are growing and less in the winter, fertilizer the same as any other orchid. No tricks or secrets.

Good that I could provide a laugh or two. OK so...I have the same conditions as last year and they bloomed great for me. Can't say the same for this year in the bloom category. I have them under Queen palms, they get morning and late afternoon sun, lately watered almost every day (thanks to Ma Nature), I do supplement H2O as per needed. Maybe it just need more vitamins! I will try some and see what happens.

Give it some time. Mine are still putting out spikes and just blooming their first two flowers. They just might be late bloomers

OK will try to be less impatient. Thanks for your thoughts. By the way I decided to try cattleya orchids now that I am living in south Florida, and one of the cattleyas I bought has sent up a leaf with a leaf inside. None of the new growth from the other cattleyas have the second leaf. Does that mean it will bloom?

3Birds - Some Cattleyas have two leaves, but it also could be a flower sheath, only time, or a picture, will tell. Can you tell we love pictures around here.

I do believe I see a trend in the picture department. I will do my best to provide a picture. Thanks for your help. I have grown orchids a long time, but since I moved to Florida I have branched out of my box (more so because I can grow them outside) and tried orchids I have always wanted to grow. I like unusual orchids, but since I can't grow them all I am leaning towards the fragrant ones.

With Spathoglottis, I keep the nitrogen low in my fertilizer formula. I give them a foliar feeding once every two weeks and they sure like replanting every year with fresh material.

It'll bloom when the sun is strong and the rain is plentiful. Mine are doing nothing right now.
I'll post pictures toward the end of May.
