I need some advice from you as to the sensitivity to temperature when it comes to the cool lovers. I have a Dend. cuthbertsonii and a Dend. jacobsonii. Now it is reccommended that you don't go above 78 but, is this a hard and fast number or if misted a couple of times a day and with a good stiff breeze can they handle up to say 85 if in shade too. I can keep them in my basement which is 74 but I'm sure they would rather be outside in the summer.
I am asking the same question ? What is the
temperature of water you pour orchids...I suppose its cool always. our water is not that cool its touchable.
I cannot speak specifically for your plants, but generally speaking, if temperatures are higher than you'd like, more shade and more air movement are appropriate.
Thanks Ray, it's going up to 94 today and tomorrow so I will be bringing them in but, I think maybe I will leave them out a little bit longer so they can enjoy the outside. Can't wait until autumn!!
Temperature extremes can be very harmful for plants with different requirements. The key is finding plants that fit your environment well, and also to be able to nurse your plants through hot and cold weather. I find that summer and winter are about survival, and if you can get through those seasons in good shape, your plants will do well.
